The second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza will largely depend on US President Trump’s administration which is currently in favour of pursuing negotiations, said Yossi Mekelberg, senior consulting fellow at MENAP, Chatham House. With talks set to resume Monday, “there is a good chance that the Israeli government might collapse” if Israeli PM Netanyahu loses the support of ministers that oppose the ceasefire, Mekelberg said.
