Siya Kolisi reacts after ‘joining the Bomb Squad’

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi reacted following his team’s 32-15 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.

The 33-year-old flanker started on the bench, with Eben Etzebeth leading the team on Sunday evening. The Boks scored four tries to kick off their UK tour on a positive note. The win sees the four-time Rugby World Cup champions return to the No. 1 spot on the World Rugby rankings.

After the match, Siya Kolisi took the time to thank the fans and also praised the Scottish team.

“First of, I want to say to all the South Africans that came out, thank you so much, it was so great to see you guys in the streets of Edinburgh. Honestly, we are nothing without you. Wherever we go in the world, you make sure you are there, thank you so much,” he said.

We knew it was going to be tough against Scotland, they are a great team. Today, they were very different to what they were in the World Cup…so they came with a kicking game and they can attack as well and they put us under pressure but credit to my boys. We made sure we kept out discipline on our try line and we defended as well as we could,” he said as per SuperSport TV.

Asked if it felt unusual starting on the bench, the Boks captain said he was pleased with the win and is always committed to helping the team whether starting or from the bench.

“Yeah, we got the win, that is the most important thing,” Siya Kolisi added. “We are going to build from this, we knew it was going to be tough but this is what I enjoy about this team is that there is always space for growth. The coaches always have a plan…squad depth and growth is important.”

“That’s good(that Boks returned to the top of the rankings) but we go next week again against England,” he said. It remains to be seen if Siya Kolisi will start next weekend’s match against England.
