Stage 4 load shedding for WEEKEND – find your schedule here

Eskom said Stage 4 load shedding had been implemented from 10h00 on Saturday until 05h00 on Monday, 12 September. Eskom said that load shedding was pushed to stage 4 for the entire weekend following more breakdowns at power stations.

“Regretfully, due to additional breakdowns overnight, Eskom was unable to replenish the emergency generation reserves, which has worsened the current generation capacity constraints.”

Girl, 3, raped and murdered allegedly by intruder in Eastern Cape

A three-year-old girl was raped before being murdered in Nonzwakazi Township, Eastern Cape.

The community is now calling for justice. The body of three-year-old Mbalentle Kana was found lying in her bedroom earlier this week. Reports revealed that the toddler was sleeping alone and her parents were in another room.

It is believed that an intruder broke in and raped the little girl before suffocating her. Speaking on behalf of the family, Sakhiwo Kana stated that the child’s mother discovered her lifeless body after noticing that their kitchen door was open.

Pupil who allegedly set principal’s car alight expected in court

The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) student accused of setting his school’s acting principal’s car on fire is expected to appear before the Pietermaritzburg Magistrates Court.

The incident allegedly occurred after the pupil’s phone was confiscated by the principal. Videos of the car on fire at Northbury Park Secondary, Pietermaritzburg, went viral on Wednesday, 7 September.

It is alleged that the 17-year-old poured petrol over the principal’s car before setting it alight. In one of the videos that went viral, people can be seen attempting to put the flames out to no avail.

Missing woman found BRUTALLY murdered, buried in pit toilet

A missing 51-year-old woman was found BRUTALLY murdered and buried in a pit toilet near Emalahleni.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, two men have been taken in by the police for questioning in connection with her horrible death.

“The 51-year-old Jemina Duba was reported as missing at Vosman Police Station late on Wednesday, 07 September 2022, after her family became concerned that they could not get hold of her. On Thursday, police began their investigation and went to the place where her boyfriend resides in Clewer near Emalahleni. The members were trying to get information from people who knew her and find out if they knew her whereabouts.

Upon arrival, they found a man referred to as her boyfriend, who reportedly informed police that he last saw her on 25 August 2022. Thereafter the man left. Police searched the house without any success but later discovered something sinister outside the house. When they checked around the yard, they saw a pit toilet piled up with soil.”

List of beaches under eThekwini Municipality that are now open

The eThekwini Municipality has opened some of its beaches following extensive water testing.

Beaches under the metro municipality were closed with immediate effect on Monday, 22 August, due to high levels of E-coli in the water. Water activities such as swimming, surfing, fishing, bathing, canoeing, and other activities were also not allowed.
