Stage 4 load shedding ‘until further notice’ – Eskom will explain why on Wednesday

Eskom said Stage 4 load shedding would be implemented at 18:00 on Tuesday, 4 October, just 10 minutes before the more severe power cuts started.

STAGE 4 LOAD SHEDDING IMPLEMENTED IMMEDIATELY

The embattled power utility said a generation unit each at Kendal and Lethabo Power stations tripped on Tuesday at approximately 17:50, which means Stage 4 load shedding is immediately necessary.

“This stage of load shedding will be maintained until further notice. Eskom will publish a statement tomorrow afternoon,” concluded the power supplier.

As previously reported, eight generation units at Camden Power Station were taken offline last week after an incorrect valve was opened and caused de-mineralised water contamination.

According to Rapport, a senior technician at Camden was suspended for allegedly opening the shut-off valve, which allowed the contamination, intentionally.
