‘The Crown’: Season five trailer teases Princess Diana’s revenge

Netflix released the official trailer for The Crown season five on Thursday 20 October.

‘THE CROWN’ SEASON FIVE

Netflix released a two-minute trailer for season five of The Crown, which shows that question of the crown’s continued relevance as the UK enters the 1990s.

“How did it come to this?” asks Queen Elizabeth in the clip.

In addition, the strain of King Charles III and Princess Diana’s marriage is the storyline of the season. Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki play the roles of King Charles III and Princess Diana respectively. Prime Minister John Major (Jonny Lee Miller) attempts to put out political fires.

“For years, I’ve called for a more modern monarchy that reflects the world outside,” Charles said in the trailer.

Prince Philip’s affair is reportedly also to be shown on season five of the series. The Crown season five releases on 9 November.

PRINCESS DIANA’S REVENGE?

Princess Diana dominates headlines in the trailer. It seems the Princess of Wales is ready to take down some royals as her famous “revenge dress” is also seen in the trailer.

The now Queen Consort Camilla – who King Charles III is rumoured to have cheated on Princess Diana with – is also seen in a romantic seen with the then Prince Charles.

“Prince Charles (Dominic West) pressures his mother to allow him to divorce Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), presenting a constitutional crisis of the monarchy. Rumours circulate as husband and wife are seen to live increasingly separate lives and, as media scrutiny intensifies, Diana decides to take control of her own narrative, breaking with family protocol to publish a book that undermines public support for Charles and exposes the cracks in the House of Windsor,” reads the synopsis of the series according to Fansided.
