Themba Zwane reacts to long-awaited Bafana Bafana call-up

Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Themba Zwane has broken his silence following his long-awaited call-up to Bafana Bafana.

Upon his arrival in 2021, South Africa coach Hugo Broos made it clear he was intending to overlook many senior players like ‘Mshishi’ and others as he wanted to build his own team utilising young players.

This decision didn’t sit well with many South Africans, particularly with the snub of Zwane and his Mamelodi Sundowns team-mate Andile Jali to whom Broos still turns the blind eye.

Zwane expressed his excitement on making the cut.

“I am very pleased and honored to be a part of the national squad as it is always an honor to play for my country,” he told Sundownsfc.co.za.

While Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena said: ”I am excited about Themba being part of the squad because I have been advocating for this. I also want to take my hat off to [Coach] Hugo Broos because it’s one thing to be stubborn as a coach, and when you have the humility to be able to correct a certain narrative that shows incredible leadership.”
