This $4.99 ALDI Find Is Finally Back—I’m Stocking up on It All Summer Long

ALDI just brought back this fan-favorite Mama Cozzi’s product. It's a hearty and satisfying breakfast that easily feeds my family of four. My 12-year-old can make it with minimal supervision.

While stocking my freezer with shortcut breakfasts for summer break (think microwave breakfast sandwiches and pancakes my tween can throw in the air fryer), I spotted a new-to-me product at ALDI that I had to try.

Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Pizza seemed like just the kind of quick breakfast option that would not only mean I could get a little break from the summer feeding frenzy but would also delight my kids. So I grabbed a few and threw them in the freezer. When I finally got around to popping one of the breakfast pizzas in the oven and feeding it to my family, I knew I would be keeping them on hand all summer long.

Why My Family Loves ALDI’s Breakfast Pizza

Breakfast pizza is considered a staple of Midwest cuisine (most famously from Casey’s General Store locations), but if you’ve ever made it from scratch, you know how much effort it takes, especially on a weekday morning. Doubly so if you’ve got kids home on summer break and you’re still trying to get work done.

Mama Cozzi’s version takes less than 20 minutes to pop in the oven and bake. The back of the box recommends baking it directly on the rack at 450°F for 14 to 18 minutes, but I found that taking it all the way to 18 minutes makes for a crisper crust and more golden brown cheese on top.

As promised, the crust is somewhere between crust and biscuit—it is sturdy and tender, crisp on the bottom, and has a buttery, layered interior. The sauce is like a country-style gravy—creamy and peppery with tons of tiny bites of mild breakfast sausage.

The whole pizza is covered in a three-cheese blend that bakes up to be the perfect combination of unctuous and caramelized. Some ALDI locations stock a pork belly bacon, peppers, and onion version that we didn’t love as much as the classic sausage and cheese (it was a little greasy for us).

How I Serve This Breakfast Pizza

A whole pizza served the four of us generously and we’ve since eaten one alone or paired with scrambled eggs and fruit (to feed some summer sleepover friends).

Beyond being delicious and easy to keep on hand, the best part of Mama Cozzi’s Biscuit Crust Sausage and Cheese Breakfast Pizza is that my 12-year-old can cook it herself with minimal supervision. This means she can feed herself when she wakes up late, or I can take a break from cooking three meals a day from scratch this summer. And because the pizza is baked directly on the oven rack, there is minimal clean-up.
