ESKOM DISMISSES CLAIMS OF ERAA NOT BEING PART OF THEIR SEPARATION PLAN

Eskom has dismissed claims that the Electricity Regulation Amendment Act (ERAA) will not be part of its separation plans.

“We have read and listened with dismay in many parts of the media and heard at conferences increasingly uninformed and misleading frenzied commentary stating the ERAA will not be met by Eskom’s separation plans,” the statement read.

The power utility also claims that businesses with a conflict of interest want to privatise Eskom by stealth.

The statement further read, “The sponsored noise comes from the same people who are part of the so-called South African Government-‘Business’ Partnership.”

According to Eskom, the implementation of ERAA will guide the separation of Eskom.

Additionally, ERAA calls for the establishment of an independent, state-owned Transmission System Operator (TSO) which will be responsible for ensuring a fair and non-biased grid access.

The BBC also called for the government and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to review and reconsider the outsourcing of national reforms to big businesses.
