In group D, Benin won their first game ever at an AFCON, beating Botswana 1-0. The battle of the big cats ended in gridlock as the Lions of Teranga drew against the Leopards of DR Congo. In group C, Uganda and Tanzania stayed level, whilst the Super Eagles and the Eagles of Carthage battled it out for the top spot in the standings. Nigeria absolutely dominated the first half, but Tunisia snapped back to make it 3-2 at the final whistle.
