On Friday, sources told Geo News that Pakistan captain Babar Azam, bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan are unlikely to receive a no-objection certificate (NOC) for Global T20 Canada. The Canadian league, which runs from July 25 to August 11, will not conflict with any series, but insiders said the players will not receive a NOC.
As per policy, all-format players will not receive the certificate. Sources say the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) opposes this due to its hectic international schedule. Days before, the cricket authority denied fast bowler Naseem Shah the NOC to participate The Hundred cricket competition due to his all-format status. According to sources, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has not approved the Global T20 Canada due to many difficulties.
After league clearance, the players’ NOC will be finalized. Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Nawaz, Asif Ali, and Iftikhar Ahmed also have Global T20 Canada contracts. The PCB announced this week that it would develop a technical method to provide NOCs to players who meet the conditions. Player fitness and performance will determine promotion.
