Champions Trophy 2025: ICC Thanks Pakistan for Hosting

Concluded on Sunday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday expressed thanks to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for effectively hosting the Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.

The first ICC event Pakistan hosted since 1996 was the esteemed tournament, which returned following 2017.

Played from February 19 to March 9 at three venues – Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi – in Pakistan, the eight-team tournament consisted of 15 matches; ultimate champions India played all of their games in Dubai.

In a statement issued by the top cricketing organization, ICC Chief Executive Geof Allardice said the PCB should be “very proud” of its preparations for successful hosting of the Champions Trophy 2025, including the rehabilitation of major stadiums and curation of appropriate fields for the contests.

“We would want to thank and congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board for effectively hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” Allardice remarked.

“As this was the first worldwide multi-team cricket event held in the nation since 1996, this event was of great importance for the PCB; all those involved in stadium renovation, surface preparation, match delivery, team and visitor attendance should be immensely proud of their work.

“The ICC would also want to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for staging five of the matches in Dubai and continuingly supporting the ICC in organising its major men’s and women’s events.”

Earlier today, ICC chairman Jay Shah also congratulated the eight competing teams, hosts Pakistan and supporters for ensuring the event was a “huge success”.

“On behalf of the [ICC],” Shah said on X, previously Twitter, “I would want to thank the teams, tournament hosts, broadcast licensees, our sponsors, ICC staff, suppliers – and most importantly the amazing fans worldwide who together helped make this #Champions Trophy a huge success.”
