Kaizer Chiefs’ journey in this competition has produced moments of pride but also painful near-misses. Their finest continental chapter came in 2001, when they lifted the African Cup Winners’ Cup after edging Angola’s Inter de Luanda 2-1 on aggregate over two legs.
However, consistency in Africa has remained a challenge. In 2014, their campaign was halted by ASEC Mimosas in the playoff round, while the 2018/19 season ended in the second qualifying round after a defeat to ZESCO United.
