Exclusive: Will Linley to open for OneRepublic in South Africa!

Grammy-nominated band OneRepublic have announced that local TikTok music sensation, Will Linley, will be the opening act for the South African leg of their world tour in November. This exciting announcement comes after the Cape Town-based singer-songwriter posted a TikTok in July asking OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder to open for them.

WILL LINLEY ASKS TO BE ONEREPUBLIC’S SA OPENING ACT 

Since releasing his debut single, miss me (when you’re gone), in 2021, Will Linley has had a brilliant breakthrough in his career. Linley released his debut EP, kill all my feelings, on 20 July which achieved more than 17 million streams worldwide, making him one of Mzansi’s new breakout stars. 

American pop stars OneRepublic announced the South African leg of their world tour in June this year. Just over a month later, Linley and his fans called on the Good Life hitmakers to let him open their two-city SA tour. 

The TikTok video received more than 25 000 views with Linley’s fans coming together in the comments to make his dream a reality.

WILL LINLEY TO OPEN FOR ONEREPUBLIC IN SA! 

On 1 September, The South African exclusively confirmed that Will Linley will be opening for the award-winning band, OneRepublic. 

“I cannot believe this is actually happening. I’m honestly still pinching myself! I think it’ll only feel real when I actually step on that stage,” said Linley. 

“I think it’s going to be such a fun opportunity and it is one I am extremely grateful for. I’m just so excited! It’s going to be epic.”

OneRepublic will kick off their South African tour on 15 November at the Grand Arena in GrandWest, Cape Town. The band will then perform at the SunBet Arena in Time Square, Pretoria on 18 and 19 November.

WHAT HAS WILL BEEN UP TO? 

Following the release of his debut EP, Will Linley jetted off to Europe as a supporting act for award-winning musician Matthew Mole. 

Before he headed halfway across the world, Linley had his first headline tour in South Africa, with performances in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
