Pakistan ODI rankings ICC update has brought a bad news for Pakistan national cricket team as they have fallen to 5th place in the latest annual ODI rankings of the ICC. The update has been made based on the trends in performance of the top international teams over the course of the year. South Africa has replaced Pakistan, having had a more impressive rating increase to fourth place. Pakistan are now just behind, with a slightly less consistent performance.
India, who are proving to be a formidable side even after the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 trophy, are still at the top of the table with 118 rating points to their name. Australia are in third place with 109 points, while New Zealand, who have maintained their ODI form, have second place. These three squads have consistently been ahead in bilateral series and major tournaments. Sri Lanka are in sixth place, followed by Afghanistan in seventh and England is eighth below Pakistan.
Bangladesh are ranked 9th followed by West Indies at the top 10. The new rankings reflect the growing competitiveness in the middle of the ODI cricket world as several teams are playing each other neck in neck. The fall to fifth spot reflects the need of Pakistan to perform better in the next ODI series. The system by which they are ranked is a rolling year-to-year system and each series can have a huge effect on the rank.
This is a key time to come back into the game and work towards improving more as it will be very important for the upcoming fixtures. The drop is not severe, but does reflect the lack of consistency in ODI form. But Pakistan are still not eliminated from the top four and a good performance in the next series is going to bring them back to the top four in no time.
