‘Dam’: Showmax thriller series renewed for season 2 [watch]
Showmax original 'Dam', the most nominated series at the SAFTAs this year, has kicked off filming for season two in the Eastern Cape.
Dam, the most nominated television drama at the 16th annual South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs), has been renewed for a second season. In 2021, the series, starring Pallance Dladla and Lea Vivier, was named one of the top 10 titles on Showmax.

‘DAM’ BEGINS FILMING IN THE EASTERN CAPE
Filming has begun in Adelaide and Bedford, Eastern Cape for season two of Dam. The second season of the series is set three months after the cult’s ritual sacrifice. The rain has poured down on the land, Yola (Lea Vivier) is missing and Sienna (Natasha Loring) fears that Yola has died.
Four-time SAFTA winner Alex Yazbek said the psychological thriller remains unlike anything else on local television.
“It’s going to be another twisty and twisted season of love triangles, monsters and more suppressed memories being uncovered.”
WHO WILL BE RETURNING TO ‘DAM’?
SAFTA nominated actors Neil Sandilands and Siv Ngesi will be returning to Dam alongside Antoinette Louw, Tarryn Wyngaard, Thembisa Mdoda-Nxumalo, Marvin-Lee Beukes and Laudo Liebenberg.
Francis Chouler, Faniswa Yisa, Jennifer Steyn and David James are also returning for the second season of Dam.
The Sunday Times has dubbed the psychological thriller a “chilling, well-acted, eerily realised and intriguing” series. Fortress of Solitude said Dam “rivals any international production” and is a “must-watch show”.
Season two is set to be released in 2023.
