Police in Cape Town say no arrests have been made following a robbery and stabbing incident on the slopes of Signal Hill within the Table Mountain National Park.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson FC Van Wyk, the incident occurred when a female visitor was walking her dog near the big rocks area on Signal Hill.

Demanded her cellphone

Van Wyk said an unidentified man armed with a knife confronted the woman, demanded her cellphone and stabbed her during the attack.

The woman’s dog reportedly bit the suspect, but was also stabbed in the altercation and later died from its injuries.

The suspect then fled the scene.

Receiving medical treatment

The woman sustained a stab wound to her left arm and is currently receiving medical treatment.

Her condition has not been disclosed.

Following the incident, South African National Parks (SANParks) has urged visitors to avoid the slopes of Signal Hill until further notice.

Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities have appealed to anyone with information that may assist in identifying or locating the suspect to come forward.
