Elton Jantjies has once again drawn the Springbok name into dicey headlines as he has been sent home from Argentina after an alleged affair with the team’s dietician Zeenat Simjee.

In a shocking revelation, it has been claimed that Jantjies had an inappropriate relationship with the Springboks’ dietician Zeenat Simjee.

Has Elton Jantjies dragged the Springbok name through the mud again?

According to Rapport, Jantjies was seen entering Simjee’s accomodation at two different guest houses in Mbombela during the week leading up to the Springboks’ first Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks.

The report claims that a father and son booked into the neighbouring guest house accommodation alerted Rapport to the activity.

“(My son) told me it wasn’t Elton’s wife because he knows what she looks like,” the father told Rapport. “We have lost the last ounce of respect for Elton.”

The report goes on to detail how the witnesses recorded audio of Jantjies and Simjee in the throes of passion and later having a loud verbal disagreement.

In a statement issued by SA Rugby it has been claimed that Elton Jantjies has only been released from the squad to avoid distraction and to allow him to deal with these reports, which are in their words related to a personal matter and not something that is of consequence to the team’s management or SA Rugby.

“The Springbok management are aware of reports regarding Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies and team dietician Zeenat Simjee … No team protocols were breached, but the individuals are returning to South Africa to attend to these personal reports and to eliminate any distractions to the team’s preparations for the Test against Argentina.”

In May, Jantjies garnered more negative headlines after he was arrested at OR Tambo airport after an alleged mid-flight incident.

The charges against Jantjies were dropped but that couldn’t prevent damning eyewitness accounts from being carried in publications in South Africa and abroad.
