Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Erwin Saavedra has expressed his thoughts after returning from injury – and made a promise to the Yellow Nation.

The 26-year-old made a match-day squad this week for the first time since May when Masandawana played their last game of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership season against Royal AM.

Saavedra, who joined the Tshwane giants in January, has been struggling with recurring injuries since his arrival at Chloorkop.

This has at some point led to suggestions that he would be sent packing as chances of him being used diminished considering the quality players the club has signed.

SAAVEDRA ON HIS RETURN FROM INJURY

“I’m very happy to be back and playing again, doing what I love the most,” Saavedra told Sundowns media.

“It’s been a long time because of my injury , I am glad I’m back.

“I am here to improve and also help the team. The most important thing is winning the game and to support the team.

The Venezuela international came on and made an immediate impact offensively against the Chilli Boys on Wednesday and is confident that he’ll be of help to the team going forward.

“No pressure at all. I actually have the confidence of the coaches and players,” he added.

“Gradually I am coming back I am feeling great. I will do everything I can to help the team.”
