Fears of retaliation, regional conflict following killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh

After Wednesday's assassination of Hamas political leader Ismael Haniyeh in the Iranian capital of Tehran sparked protests in Turkey and threats of "major repercussions" from Hamas, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the killing could lead to "harsh punishment", while Washington expressed concern about an escalation of the Israel-Hamas War.
