As reported by The South African website, construction on the 3 000 square metre (sqm) store started in January 2022 and forms part of the group’s R400 million expansion drive.
The state-of-the-art store will serve surrounding communities, including Bothasig, Monte Vista, Plattekloof, Panorama, Burgundy Estate, Richwood and Edgemead.

The new stand-alone site is focused on energy efficiencies, the group said, and includes features such as remote cabinet monitoring capability, ice storage systems for air-conditioning and solar panels that will generate 360 kWp DC of renewable electricity annually.

Design features include wider aisles and departments designed as dedicated destinations.
Solar and energy-efficient lighting will be used throughout the store.

Departments within the Bothasig Food Lover’s Market store include:
- Fruit and vegetables
- Gourmet butchery with artisanal blockmen
- A bakery
- A fresh seafood department
- Cheese and deli counters
- Wine department
- Hot and prepared foods
- A dried fruit and nut bar
- A sushi bar
- A biltong bar
- Seattle Coffee Co will be available at the entrance to the store
City of Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the store.
