South African retailer Food Lover’s Market will be launching its latest R100 million flagship store in Bothasig, Cape Town next month.

Construction on the 3 000 square metre store started in January 2022 with an official launch planned at the end of October.
The construction of the store is part of the retailers’ plans to open 21 new stores across South Africa – and southern Africa as part of a R400 million expansion drive.

At present, Food Lover’s Market has over 320 stores in South Africa and Namibia.
According to the BusinessTech website, the Bothasig development will deliver an “upmarket farm and family” feel and will offer an experiential shopping experience, Food Lover’s said.
The news come hot on the heels of confirmation last week – as reported by The South African website – that Pick n Pay has launched it’s Pick n Pay QualiSave stores, aimed at providing South Africa’s middle-income market consumers with lower-priced quality products

Design features at the Bothasig Food Lover’s Market will include:
- Wider aisles;
- Departments designed as dedicated destinations;
- Solar and energy-efficient lighting will be used throughout the store; and
- An expanded grocery section.
Departments within this new store will include:
- Fruit and vegetables;
- Gourmet butchery with artisanal blockmen;
- A bakery;
- A fresh seafood department;
- Cheese and deli counters;
- Wine department;
- Hot and prepared foods;
- A dried fruit and nut bar;
- A sushi bar;
- A biltong bar; and
- Seattle Coffee Co will be available at the entrance to the store.
