From Soweto to England? Pirates duo attract big-name interest!

Championship side Sunderland is monitoring Orlando Pirates pair Tshegofatso Mabasa and Thalente Mbatha.

“It’s the same club [Sunderland] interested in another Pirates player, Thalente Mbatha. It’s believed that when the scouts came to look at Mbatha they were also happy with Mabasa, and they had to assess him further in other games and apparently they were happy and they have enquired about him. So, Sunderland are the club interested in Tshegofatso Mabasa,” SoccerLaduma stated.

A return to the English Premier League is on the cards for Régis Le Bris side. The allure of playing in arguably soccer’s biggest league could be prove to tempting for Mabasa or Mbatha (or both).

Dream signing?

Pirates will try again for former PSL Young Player of the Year Jaedin Rhodes after failing to land the talented 21-year-old in January. This move could be boosted by Cape Town City’s current form.

“He (Rhodes) has been one of their (Pirates’) targets for some time now,” SoccerLaduma reported.

“They have been monitoring him though there hasn’t been much happening. They were targeting him for the January transfer window period.

“Now that it didn’t happen they have more time to work on it and will see what happens in the next window. But they are interested in him. That I can tell you.”

Who else should Orlando Pirates sign?
