Gavin Hunt is hopeful that a big result against Mamelodi Sundowns will help SuperSport United in their drive to recruit top players.

Hunt was delighted to see his team finally get the rewards their play has deserved this season.

The result also puts Hunt in a far more comfortable position which could also help bring some favourites of the veteran coach into the SuperSport camp.

Despite declaring his desire to bring in some players to fill up the SuperSport United squad, Hunt believes he still has quality in the squad.

SuperSport United recently lost arguably the best central midfielders in the PSL with the departures of Tebogo Mokoena and Sipho Mbule to Sundowns and that could be an area they look to strengthen.

The latest PSL transfer rumours

Two players who have stood out in Hunt’s side this season have been Thapelo Maseko and Iqraam Rayners.

Maseko is pacy and creative and is the first choice to bring the ball forward while Rayners just never stops working up front.

“Ja I thought, look I mean we haven’t got our just rewards this season but I mean no body really cares, every body else besides us,” Hunt told SuperSport TV after the game.

“And I thought we got our just rewards a little bit, we defended so well just disappointed about the last goal because it’s a really standard situation to take care of.

“But ja we had some good moments, we really broke out well, we have to play a certain way because of the players, we don’t have players, we are really struggling with numbers.

“So ja I thought the kid Thapelo was outstanding, Rayners, I call him Rodney Rayners by the way, they’ve done great, that’s what we can rely on, battle away and hopefully we try get one or two bodies in before the [transfer] window,” Hunt said.
