It has been confirmed that SABC 1 will broadcast Orlando Pirates’ potential Betway Premiership title-clinching match against Durban City.
Orlando Pirates are now just one win away from potentially ending one of the longest Betway Premiership title droughts in the club’s modern era after Mamelodi Sundowns stumbled dramatically at the finish line.
The Buccaneers host Durban City at Orlando Stadium on Saturday knowing the championship race has suddenly swung back into their hands.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS SLIP UP
Sundowns suffered a shock 3-2 defeat to TS Galaxy in Mbombela, leaving Kabo Yellow stranded on 68 points after completing their league campaign.
For weeks, the title had looked destined to remain in Tshwane once again before the race took a dramatic late twist.
Now all eyes will be on the Orlando Amstel Arena…

THE BUCCANEERS ARE STRONG FAVOURITES
Orlando Pirates head into the clash in strong league form, carrying an impressive 11-match unbeaten run into Saturday’s potential title decider.
The Buccaneers have also looked dominant in recent weeks, following up a 3-0 away victory over Magesi FC with a 2-0 win against Stellenbosch FC earlier this month. Their overall league record now stands at 20 wins, five draws and just three defeats.
However, Durban City remain capable of frustrating the title hopefuls despite arriving in poor league form. The KwaZulu-Natal side are winless in their last six Betway Premiership matches and recently played out a goalless draw against Stellenbosch FC.
Yet the Citizens will arrive with confidence after recently lifting the 2026 Nedbank Cup title following victory over TS Galaxy. They also remain in the hunt for a top-eight finish and could be highly motivated to disrupt Orlando Pirates’ championship celebrations.
History also favours the Buccaneers heading into the encounter though. Orlando Pirates claimed a comfortable 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on 29 November 2025, with goals from Evidence Makgopa and Patrick Maswanganyi sealing the result.
