New Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has taken to social media to wish Dricus du Plessis well in his UFC 305 middleweight title defence against Israel Adesanya in Perth, Australia on Sunday, 18 August.

McKenzie posted on X, formerly Twitter: @dricusduplessis bliksem hom!

McKenzie appears to be in Perth judging from his X account where he earlier on Saturday posted a picture from the stands ahead of the Springboks’ Rugby Championship Test against the Wallabies.

As reported by The South African website, Du Plessis will be accompanied to the octagon by Springbok legends Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth.

If that alone doesn’t give Du Plessis a psychological advantage over his opponent, nothing will!

Nigeria-born Adesanya will be 35 come fight night, while Pretoria-born Du Plessis will be 30.
