Grocery retailer Whole Foods just announced a partnership with food waste prevention pros Too Good To Go. Through the Too Good To Go App, you can now access incredible deals on prepared foods and bakery items from over 450 Whole Foods locations across the United States.

Pick up a prepared foods bag filled with soups and ready-to-eat meals for $9.99 or a bakery bag loaded up with scones, cookies, muffins, and freshly-baked breads for $6.99.

What Is Too Good To Go?

Too Good To Go is a social impact company that partners with restaurants, grocery stores, and retailers to offer surplus food at deep discounts. The ultimate goal is to prevent food waste, but it also provides incredible deals for users. The service allows consumers to buy high-quality food for much less than the retail price. Participating businesses also benefit: instead of throwing away or composting their excess food, they recoup costs and gain new customers who might not have shopped at their store otherwise.

The Too Good To Go app allows you to select your location and presents a menu of options from local restaurants, bakeries, caterers, and stores. While you do not get to choose specific items, each shop offers "surprise bags" filled with delicious foods that the store has left at the end of the day.

How To Access Discounted Whole Foods Items

First, download the Too Good To Go app, available on both iOS and Android. After you enter your email address and select a location, the app shows results from businesses in your area. You can widen your search depending on how far you're willing to travel for a good deal.

You do not have to share your location with the app to use it, and when you travel, you can readjust your location to take advantage of deals anywhere you go. The service is available in 17 countries across North America and Europe. There are limited number of bags available at each location.

I spoke with Sarah Soteroff, Too Good To Go's Senior PR Manager for the United States and Canada, about what shoppers can look forward to from this partnership. She says, "The types of food consumers can expect to receive are items prepared that day for the hot bar, anything cooked by the Whole Foods in-house team, such as soup, salads, sides, etc." Packaged or canned goods are not included in this offer.

In the bakery bags, shoppers may find "bread, pastries, baked sweets, and anything from the bakery department, made in-house by Whole Foods."
