Summer’s in full blast, and the Fourth of July is quickly approaching. Whether you’re preparing for a trip to the beach, hosting the annual family get-together by the grill, or taking a road trip to watch the fireworks—I always drive up to Washington D.C.—this time of year is filled with summertime activities and excursions… and lots of trips to the grocery store to keep up with it all.
You’re a busy bee keeping that summer magic going! The last thing you want to worry about is your go-to grocery store being closed. To simplify your Independence Day planning, I’ve compiled a list of grocery stores and their operating hours on July 4th.
Grocery Stores Open on the Fourth of July
Most major grocery stores maintain their normal hours of operation on July 4th, with a few exceptions following adjusted hours. Many grocery stores have region-specific hours, so your local grocery store may not observe the exact hours below; check in with your local store or use its online location tracker for the most accurate information.
Normal hours of operation:
- Albertsons: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Food Lion: Open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Harris Teeter: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Kroger: Open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Lidl: Open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Piggly Wiggly: Open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Publix: Open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Safeway: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Stop & Shop: Open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
- Target: Open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Walmart: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Wegmans Food Markets: Open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
- Whole Foods Market: Open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Adjusted hours:
- ALDI: Open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., but hours may vary by location
- Sam’s Club: Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Club Members and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Plus Members
- Trader Joe’s: Open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Closed on the Fourth
Costco will be closed on July 4th. Remember to go grocery shopping before then!
