Here’s why you might miss your flight on Thursday

Traffic congestion in Cape Town escalated significantly on Thursday afternoon as ongoing protest action has led to major disruptions along the N2 highway.
Authorities have confirmed that the N2 outbound is currently closed at Mew Way, while the inbound lanes are shut at Spine Road, effectively paralysing one of the city’s key transport arteries.
The road closures have left many commuters stranded and scrambling for alternative routes, especially those needing to get to Cape Town International Airport, with frustrations mounting during peak travel hours.
Alternative route
Motorists are urged to avoid the affected sections of the N2 and to exercise caution on surrounding roads.
However, the R300 link onto the N2 outbound remains open and is currently the most viable alternative route for those navigating away from the city.
Law enforcement officials are monitoring the situation, and updates are expected as authorities work to restore order and reopen the highway.
In the meantime, residents are advised to stay informed via local traffic reports and plan additional travel time.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy sitting in traffic?
