Humble Grammy winner Black Coffee ‘thankful’ for his SAMA award
'Why waste your time thanking that Mickey Mouse circus,' one person asked after Black Coffee said thank you for his SAMA award.
South African musician Black Coffee is one of a few local celebrities who have shown appreciation for this year’s South African Music Awards (SAMA). Taking to Twitter on 29 August this week, the DJ thanked the organisation after he won the International Achievement Award.
While some of his fans love how humble he remains despite his success, others wondered why he would bother himself with an award from the SAMA when he recently won a Grammy Award.
Black Coffee says thanks for his SAMA award
We Dance Again hitmaker Black Coffee is as humble as ever despite having achieved both local and international success.
Not only has he worked with international stars like Drake and David Guetta, but he also won a Grammy Award making him one of very few South African artists.
While he is taking on millions from performances around the world, Black Coffee never forgets his roots and recently took some time out to thank the SAMA awards for his International Achievement Award.
While he could not make it to the ceremony which took place on 28 August last week, he did head to Twitter to share a touching video in which he thanks both the organisers of the event and his supporters.
“For many years I’ve watched South African great artists travel the world, sell out shows, so being a recipient of this prestigious International Achievement Award is such a big deal for me”
