August done: Pirates signings ratings

As The South African confirmed before the start of the season, the Buccaneers made six signings.

It was first Nkosinathi Sibisi and Tapelo Xoki, before they were joined by Miguel Timm, Eva Nga, and Evidence Makgopa while Azola Matrose was signed to remain on loan at Chippa United.

SOLID START FOR ORLANDO PIRATES

Having played six DStv Premiership games, and one match in MTN8 quarter-finals, Jose Riveiro’s Sea Robbers have celebrated four wins and two draws.

The attack has delivered four goals while two goals have gone past the defence and goalkeeper Richard Ofori.

New faces have played a starring role in defence, midfield, and attack.

NEW SIGNINGS RATINGS

  • Nkosinathi Sibisi, central defender, 9/10 – What a signing. Collected two Man of the Match awards. Surely the club’s player of the month.
  • Tapelo Xoki, central defender, 7/10 – Hardly put a foot wrong when given the chance to play. Has been the reserve for Sibisi, Olisa, and Innocent Maela.
  • Miguel Timm, central midfielder, 8/10 – Was on the bench in the first three games before starting all the following four games. Has made the number 6 role his own. Very calm and organised.
  • Eva Nga, center forward, 6.5/10 –  It has been a mixed start. The Cameroonian has scored once while missing a lot more. Nevertheless, a powerful focal point that bullies defenders.
  • Evidence Makgopa: N/A – Sadly suffered a lengthy injury during preseason.
For everyone’s benefit. Fans need to view Nga from perspective. Image: @OrlandoPirates / Twitter

It now remains to be seen if the new men will either be consistent, get better or sadly lose momentum as the season progresses.
