I Asked 4 Food Editors To Name the Best Cutting Board—They All Said the Same Brand
I was interested to know what brand of cutting board my food editor friends like the best. Everyone I asked said the same brand.
I keep things simple in the kitchen. My practical side prefers to stick with the tried-and-true tools I’ve been using since culinary school, like a sharp knife and a sturdy cutting board. With these two essentials, there’s no limit to what I can create—and they would serve any home cook well.
Not all cutting boards are created equal, so I was interested to know what brand of cutting board my food editor friends like the best. I asked four food editors, and they all pointed me to the same brand.

The Cutting Board Food Editors Love Is Under $40
The four food editors I spoke with all said that Material’s The reBoard is their favorite cutting board, and the good news is that the larger size is just a cool $35. Even better news—the board is available in five cozy colorways that look splendid in any kitchen.
“I love my Material cutting board,” raves Arie. “It's fuss-free, doesn't warp, and looks good! What more do you want from a cutting board?”
In addition to functionality, sustainability is a factor for Chandra. "I became interested in Material's cutting boards after hearing that they are upcycled,” she says. “I love that they are made with recycled plastic and sugarcane.”
Chandra adds, “These are the best plastic cutting boards I've used. They hold up to knife cuts well, are dishwasher safe, and are pretty enough to have out at a party.”
Myo has been cooking at home and professionally for 20 years, and in all that time, she’s been mostly underwhelmed by cutting board options. Then, she says, "I was gifted Material's The Mini (re)Board a couple of years ago, and it’s the only brand I’ve been buying since. I own the re(Board) too—it’s larger. I like that the surface doesn’t scratch easily, it doesn’t warp in the dishwasher, and it feels and looks sturdy.”
Its practicality makes The reBoard a favorite for Sophie, too. “It's rare for me to rave about a kitchen item, but I'm truly in love with my cutting board set.” Johnson has all three sizes and says it’s all about the details, noting, “They're lightweight compared to wooden boards, they're dishwasher safe, and they don't slide around on my counter.”
Just as importantly, Sophie says the colors make these a favorite in the kitchen. “I think they add such a nice pop of color to my otherwise neutral kitchen.”
