This New $2.89 ALDI Find Wasn't On My List, but I'm So Glad I Bought It
This new ALDI find is so good that when you take a bite, you immediately want to take another bite (or ten).
Lately, there have been so many new products in ALDI’s deli that I have to do a drive-by with my quarter-laden cart, even if I don’t plan on buying anything from that section of the store.
That’s how I discovered a new, delicious shredded cheese blend. I hadn't planned to buy any cheese, but as so often happens at ALDI, my plans changed.
What I Love About ALDI's Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese
The new Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese blend at ALDI might as well be called the triple threat. It’s a blend of three sharp cheddars from Wisconsin, Vermont, and New York, and wow, it’s good.
For $2.89, you get a half pound of glorious cheddar shreds. This beautiful mix of white and gold shreds starts out mild and blossoms into a sharp delight as you nosh on it. Because it’s made from three distinct cheddars, its depth of flavor goes beyond regular cheddar shreds. It’s one of those cheeses, especially when melted, that you take a bite of and immediately want to take another bite or ten.
How I Use ALDI's Triple Cheddar Shredded Cheese
That craveable flavor pairs well with a variety of dips, like my sister’s sour cream-based bacon-ranch dip (it is as delicious as it sounds, and this cheese would make it taste even better).
It’s absolutely perfect for grilled cheese. It also melts well on chicken. For an easy dinner, season and then bake chicken breasts or chicken thighs, and two to three minutes before they’re done, add a handful of these shreds and broil until melted.
If you like cheddar mac ’n cheese, then this is the blend you’ll want to reach for, as it melts easily. It would also be great for au gratin potatoes. The shreds would also enhance many a cheesy casserole—I’m thinking tater tot casseroles, tuna casseroles, and anything with pasta.
It would also go well with salads: chef salads, BLT pasta salads, and summer spinach salads would all taste great with a bit of this cheese blend. A handful of shreds melts perfectly on a burger, and it pairs especially well when bacon is part of the equation.
Finally, it’s a great blend if you’re making tacos or enchiladas—sprinkle in some Tajín seasoning for even more flavor.
