Kaizer Chiefs interested inquire about one goal and one assist star!

Kaizer Chiefs are now back in the country as they continue their preparations for the new season next month.

Chiefs had been hard at work in Turkey trying to ensure that they have a better season that the last.

To do so, they have revamped their technical team, led by coach Nasreddine Nabi who joins from AS FAR. The much anticipated appointment has Chiefs fans very excited for the new season, with the Tunisian ably assisted by Fernando Da Cruz. The squad has also been revamp in a playing sense too, with five players having already departed after their contracts came to an end.

Players have been released and signed at Chiefs

The likes of Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti, Njabulo Ngcobo, Siyethemba Sithebe and Jasond Gonzalez were all released by Chiefs. Amakhosi management have also been hard at work securing signings for next season as well. So far they have signed Bongani Sam from arch rivals Orlando Pirates and Rushwin Dortley from Cape Town Spurs. Both players are set to boost their left side of defence ahead of the new season. They have also bolstered their goalkeeper ranks by signing Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy.

It is believed that Chiefs are far from done with the recruiting. According to SABC Sport, they have made an inquiry for another Spurs player Asanele Velebayi.

“SABC Sport can reveal Kaizer Chiefs have made contact with Cape Town Spurs regarding the possible transfer of winger Asanele Velebayi. Both Spurs and Chiefs are keeping a tight lid on negotiations behind the scenes, just as they did with discussions around Dortley, who was wanted by rivals SuperSport United soon after The Urban Warriors’ return to the second tier was confirmed in May. Chiefs see the player as a prospect that can mature under Tunisian mentor Nabi, and the club is expected to table an offer for Velebayi once Spurs agree to sell yet another player as the look to cash in before the window closes late next month.” Wrote the website.

Velebayi the next target?

An exciting winger to the eye, but the output from Velebayi does not always match. The 21-year-old played 24 games last season for Spurs, managing just one goal and one assist all campaign. It remains to be seen if he would improve Chiefs with those stats.

Chiefs fans, would you want to see the club signing Velebayi? Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below.
