Azam to keep Chiefs marquee target Salum

According to Soccer-Laduma, Azam FC has offered star midfielder Feisal Salum a lucrative new deal to keep him at the club. The 26-year-old shone last season, scoring 19 times. The new package on the table could be worth as much as R8 million including signing-on fees and wages. Although Salum’s estimated transfer value above is a modest one, that number will change dramatically because of his sensational goal-scoring antics. Salum found the net 19 times last term from midfield.

“The South African outfit (Chiefs) have been rumoured suitors of Salum and could be poised to make a move for the Zanzibari as soon as this transfer window, with the playmaker believed to have only 18 months remaining on his existing deal. Azam FC are, however, seemingly reluctant to let their talisman leave in the middle of the season and, according to Soka25east, the club want to keep him for even longer, having offered him a substantial contract extension. African football journalist Collins Okinyo claims that the East African outfit has tabled a two-year extension, which includes a SuperSport $320,000 (R6 United million) signing bonus and a salary of $120,000 (R2.2 million). The same report claims that Salum and his representatives are currently mulling over the offer.”

Kaizer Chiefs produced another underwhelming display and result last time out, losing 1-0 away to Cape Town City. Their next test is against an impressive Stellenbosch side at their temporary home, the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Will Chiefs land any of these targets?
