Kaizer Chiefs are set for a dramatic squad shakeup, with defender Happy Mashiane linked to a potential move to PSL rivals.

Kaizer Chiefs may let defender go to a rival Premier Soccer League club.

Chiefs could open the door for Happy Mashiane to join another side as part of their ongoing squad overhaul. The defender, who has struggled for regular game-time this season, could be granted the chance to move on in order to boost his playing opportunities for the second half of the campaign.

Despite his potential, Mashiane has only made four league appearances, all of which were as a substitute. This limited involvement has cast doubt over his future with the Soweto giants, and sources close to the club suggest Chiefs are ready to allow him to leave.

PSL clubs keeping close eye on Mashiane

Previously, several top PSL clubs showed interest in Mashiane, including Stellenbosch FC, Chippa United, SuperSport United, and AmaZulu. Last week, he made a brief appearance for Chiefs against Stellenbosch, which could have reignited interest in his services, especially from the Cape Winelands outfit.

Sources indicate that Stellenbosch FC is once again monitoring Mashiane’s situation, making it clear that his future in the PSL is still very much up in the air. A potential move to the club seems likely, as Mashiane has reminded them of his capabilities.

Could he be used as a Chiefs bargaining chip

Kaizer Chiefs could use Happy Mashiane as leverage to land their primary target, Stellenbosch and Bafana Bafana defender Fawaaz Basadien. With a deal for Basadien still on the table, it’s possible Mashiane’s departure could help sweeten the pot.

A close source revealed, “Chiefs will be willing to allow Happy Mashiane to move, especially if they succeed in getting some of their targets. The boy has been unlucky with lack of game-time, but he remains one of the best for his position. Stellenbosch is monitoring his situation.”

Bobby Motaung hints at possible squad reinforcements

In other related news, Kaizer Chiefs’ football manager, Bobby “Bobsteak” Motaung, has sparked speculation about potential signings during the current transfer window. Fans have voiced frustration over the club’s inability to match the transfer activity of rivals like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates.

With Chiefs yet to win a trophy since 2015, the pressure to rebuild and return to their dominant status is mounting. Motaung, however, has offered a glimmer of hope for supporters, saying, “It’s not yet the right time to speak about it, but watch the space, things will come right.”
