Kaizer Chiefs to table new deal for star amid overseas interest!

Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be ready to tie down one of their key defenders to a new deal.

Chiefs are ready to make some changes to their playing staff next season, but no everybody is disposable.

Players like Siyethemba Sithebe and Sifiso Hlanti have been mentioned, with their deals up soon. They have been joined by Happy Mashiane and Zitha Kwinika of late. One player that has been fighting those exit rumours at Chiefs is Njabulo Ngcobo. Now besides those names, the likes of Edmilson Dove, George Matlou and Keagan Dolly will see their contracts run out.

Chiefs looking to keep Frosler

Players such as Samkelo Zwane, Sabelo Radebe, and even Edson Castillo have been mentioned as possible exits at Chiefs. One of the players they could be willing to keep is right-back Reeve Frosler. According to Soccer-Laduma the club are looking to stave off overseas-interest by offering him a new deal.

“The new deal is expected to kick in at the end if next season but they had to deal with it as soon as possible because he (Frosler) will soon turn into a free agent. From December, he will have remaining just six months and anything is possible so they (Chiefs) didn’t want to take that risk hence the offer for a new three-year deal. It could not be fully done yet but it’s on the table already,” said the source to publication.

Another source explains that Chiefs see Frosler as part of a plan to keep defensive solidarity for years to come. This could see him partner with Given Msimango and Thatoyoane Dithlokwe and a potential new left-back for the long-term.

Long-term vision in place

“You know the main right back, it’s him (Frosler) and then Dillon Solomons and they will all be in the team for the next two seasons or so. Solomons’ contract runs until June 2026 so if Frosler’s one runs until June 2028 then they can bring in the young players from their development gradually during the next period. That’s why they are willing to keep Frosler for another three years from next year,” said the source.

At times this season, Chiefs’ defence was the best part of their game. Frosler being key in that, could be a smart extension from the club.
