A husband allegedly hired hitmen to kill his wife who was first strangled with a rope before being stabbed multiple times in Limpopo.

A 52-year-old husband has been arrested along with his two accomplices for allegedly killing his estranged wife whose body was found in a pool of blood at her home in Onverwacht outside Lephalale town in Limpopo in June 2021.

An intelligence-driven probe reportedly established that the deceased’s husband allegedly hired two hitmen to kill his wife, Sbongile Ditsela, 47, at their house in Onverwacht. 

HUSBAND ARRESTED FOR ALLEGEDLY KILLING WIFE 

According to Limpopo police, on the day in question, the husband had come to the house to make arrangements to collect his daughter after school. After the domestic worker opened for him, he went straight to the bedroom where he found his wife lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds. 

Police were called to the scene and upon arrival, they found that the suspects aged 40 and 48 broke the window to gain access to the bedroom without anyone inside the house noticing.The suspects took the deceased’s cellphone and car keys.The deceased was also found strangled with a rope.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi said the first suspect was arrested on 7 October in Ga-Makanye village under Mankweng policing area.The deceased’s husband was arrested on Sunday, 9 October at his other house in Ga-Seleka village in  Lephalale and the third was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, 11 October in Mankweng. 

Meanwhile, Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded the investigating team for their excellent and intensive investigation and thanked community members for the positive information that led to the arrest of the suspects.

Two of the suspects Petrus Sefara, 48, and Alias Kotswana  Ditsela aged 52(the husband) appeared in the Lephalale Magistrate’s court on Tuesday 11 October 2022 on charges of murder and house robbery. Their case was postponed to 14 October 2022 for formal bail application. The third suspect was expected to appear on Wednesday 12 October.
