2006 | Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in South Africa, leading a delegation of government officials and businessmen on a two-day official visit.

2012 | An accidental explosion in the Turkish Army weapons store in Afyon, western Turkey killed 25 soldiers and injured four others.

1996 | Hurricane Fran made landfall near Cape Fear, North Carolina as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 mph. Fran caused more than $3 billion in damage and killed 27 people.
