Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that their MTN8 second leg semi-final against Orlando Pirates is scheduled for Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The two teams will meet at Orlando Stadium in the first leg on Saturday, 1 October before clashing again in the return leg on 22 October.

And the news of Sundowns taking Pirates to Polokwane were confirmed by chairman Tlhopi Motsepe during the handover of multisport purpose to Soshanguve South Secondary School on Monday.

While Sundowns were not allowed to host this match at Loftus Versveld Stadium due to conflict of interest between Vodacom and MTN8, Motsepe down played the talk.

He said the reason the club opted for the Peter Mokaba Stadium was to allow their fans in Polokwane to see the team in action, saying they want to spread football in the country, especially Limpopo.

“As the club, we want to spread football in the country as much as possible; some of our supporters are in that region and I’m sure they will want to see the game,” Motsepe told journalists.

“So, we want to make sure that all our supporters in the country see a nail-biting and quality game against Orlando Pirates.”

“The decision to go to Polokwane is because we want to spread football in that region and our supporters to see the team play in a different place; that’s the reason we want to go there,” added Motsepe.
