Mercedes-Benz raises a whopping R6.9m for Gift of the Givers
Mercedes Benz raised around R6.9 million for Gift of the Givers after auctioning off a Maybach S-Class to a wealthy South African.
It was a good week for the humanitarian charity organisation Gift of The Givers after they received over R6m from motor giant Mercedes-Benz. The luxury car brand auctioned off a Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC “Edition 100” over the weekend and gave the proceeds to the organisation.
The V12-powered “Edition 100” in Mzansi is one of 100 luxury sedans worldwide.
Mercedes-Benz makes generous donation to Gift of the Givers
Luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz held a successful auction on Saturday 3 September last week.
A Mercedes-Benz Maybach 680 4MATIC “Edition 100” was auctioned off to a wealthy South African car collector who paid a cool R6.9 million to add the car to his collection.
The car is one of only 100 in the world and the only one of its kind here in South Africa.
The auction was held at the Sandton Mercedes Benz dealership.
Meanwhile, proceeds from the auction will be going to the Gift of the Givers Foundation, reports a Motorpress article.
Top Gear Magazine writer Papi Mabele also tweeted the news shortly after the auction took place:
“Mercedes-Benz SA auctioned off a Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC “Edition 100” last night for R6.9M! This is one of 100 models globally and the only one in SA.”
“Auction profits will be donated to Gift of the Givers Foundation,” he wrote.
Mzansi loves it
The post was well received by locals who appear to be big fans of both Mercedes-Benz and Gift of the Givers.
Many also tried to guess who the person behind the huge person is.
A lot of people wondered whether MaMkhize or perhaps an ANC member bought the pricey car.
