My Favorite ALDI Find Is Finally Back in Stock—It Tastes Like a Restaurant’s
This product isn't always in stock, but whenever it is I have to make an ALDI run. It makes both weeknight dinners and entertaining a breeze.
I’m making a point to go to ALDI this week because its cedar plank salmon is back, and I couldn’t be more excited.
I love ALDI’s fresh, never-frozen Atlantic salmon. It’s one of my absolute favorite fish products of all time, at any store. I buy ALDI’s regular salmon at least two or three times a month, but the best way to cook salmon is grilling it on a cedar plank.
What I Love About ALDI's Cedar Plank Salmon
A few summers ago, ALDI debuted its cedar plank salmon, and of course, I had to try it. It was an absolute revelation—it smelled, tasted, and looked just like a dish from a seafood restaurant.
The salmon is fresh and delicious, and the cedar adds a rich, aromatic flavor. My husband says the salmon tastes almost like candy—sweet and succulent. So, yes, I’m getting in line for the cedar plank salmon when it comes out this week.
This time around, the salmon is Maui Pineapple-glazed, and it retails for $9.99 per pound. One plank serves two adults or one hungry teenager. I usually buy three for my family, which is enough for me to have leftovers for lunch the next day.
How I Prepare ALDI's Cedar Plank Salmon
I usually cook the cedar plank salmon for my family, but it's fantastic for entertaining, as the presentation is a bit dramatic. The smoke wafts from the cedar when you take it off the grill. While the salmon looks impressive, it's also easy to make because you just plunk it right onto the grill.
If you don’t have a grill or just don’t feel like firing up your grill, you can bake the salmon in the oven at 350°F for ten minutes or so, depending on the amount of salmon and your preferred level of doneness.
Though I haven’t yet tried the Maui Pineapple flavor—it’s new this year—I am certain that my family will enjoy it. We've loved all of the marinated salmon varieties we’ve tried from ALDI.
Since my husband wants to grill out this weekend, I’ll pick up a few of these planks, and all I have to do is toss a salad and make an easy dessert. (I might even grab a bag or two of ALDI’s pesto Caesar salad kits and a couple different kinds of Sunday Shoppe ice cream bars.) It’s simple and delicious, the perfect entrée for our first grill-out of the season.
