NPA confirms arrest warrant for Musa Khawula in 2022 murder case
The NPA confirmed a warrant for Musa Khawula’s arrest in a 2022 murder case after he failed to appear in court and remains at large.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in the Western Cape has confirmed that social media personality Musawenkosi Khawula remains at large, with an active warrant issued for his arrest in a 2022 murder case.
The NPA said Musa Khawula appeared before the Vredenburg Magistrates’ Court and was released on bail.
However, he failed to return to court on 28 January 2025. The court issued a warrant for his arrest on the same day and later forfeited his bail on 11 February 2025.
Murder charge linked to former partner
Khawula faces a charge of murder linked to the death of his former boyfriend, Wandile Khambule. The case is registered under CAS 35/03/2022.
Prosecutors had scheduled the matter for plea and trial on 30 May 2024.
The court postponed proceedings several times to allow Khawula to appoint new legal representation.
The NPA said Khawula has not appeared in court since early 2025 and remains unaccounted for.
It confirmed that the South African Police Service in Vredenburg is actively tracing him to ensure he returns to court.
Silence from Musa Khawula
Khawula, known on the social media platform X as “Gossip Girl”, has not commented publicly on the case.
The NPA said it does not handle arrests but warned that Khawula’s continued absence is delaying justice in a serious criminal matter.
