Nienaber is running out of time with The Springboks – recent reports emerged showing just how close he is to facing the axe.

With just a 36% win record and some dismal losses to Wales at home for the first-time and Australia away, Nienaber is just not producing the consistency the Boks need. If he does not produce an exceptionally strong run in the second half of the Rugby Championship then he honestly needs to go.

RASSIE AND WHITE IN, NIENABER OUT!

Rassie Erasmus may be director of rugby but it is as Bok coach that he drew the most out of his players. Nienaber simply has not drawn the same level of passion and commitment from his payers – and it shows.

Since Rassie’s suspension before the Boks clash against England in Twickenham last year, the Boks have not shown the same work rate on defense. They have gone from a side that conceded less than a try a game on average during the World Cup to a side leaking in four tries against NZ at home and three against the Aussies away. Even the Welsh breached their defense with ease in the first Test, scoring 29 points.

ICYMI: ALL BLACKS LEGEND DAN CARTER TO COACH FUTURE SPRINGBOKS IN SOUTH AFRICA

This site used to be the best defensive team in the world, known for how hard they work for one another on defense, but this has not been the case over the last year or so. It was only in the second test against NZ at Mbombela and the British & Irish Lions series that they showcased this level of heart, guts, drive, and commitment.

JAKE WHITE IS THE PERFECT REPLACEMENT FOR BOKS

Furthermore, White has proven himself to be the ideal candidate for the Boks. Since his return to South Africa, he lead the Bulls to back-to-back Currie Cup titles, the Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked, a Rainbow Cup final, and the URC final. He took the Bulls from a position of struggle and built them into an incredibly well-structured side. One capable of toppling the world. It showed when they beat Leicester in Ireland and conquered SA for two years in a row. White also lead the Boks to the 2007 Rugby World Cup title so he knows exactly what it takes. He is meticulous, consistent, and the ideal replacement. Should Nienaber fall, and is Erasmus stays director of rugby.

SHOCKING AND COSTLY BOK SELECTIONS

That’s not all, since Nienaber’s appointment we have seen some shocking decisions made. None more so than dropping Malcolm Marx for the inexperienced Joseph Dweba and making the same mistake twice! He also opted to give Elton Jantjies game time against the Welsh where he has an absolute shocker. Currently, The Boks have gone from first to third in the World Rankings. Now, they run the risk of dropping as low as fifth if things don’t change and fast!

The Bokke currently languish in last in the Rugby Championship standings. Means, that one more defeat will see their title ambitions dashed. A couple of defeats could see them drop to as low as fifth and finish the campaign in last place.

All hope is not lost however, Nienaber has three games left in the Rugby Championship. Three finals, in terms of the competition and his future as Bok coach. This weekend’s match against Australia is a final. Therefore, so are the next two games against Argentina (away and at home).

If he manages to beat the Wallabies then he will be the first coach to achieve this feat in 9 long years. This would revive the Boks campaign, give us some much-needed momentum and potentially save his career.

It is essential that the Springboks build momentum with just under a year left until their 2023 Rugby World Cup defense.

Do you think Nienaber should remain coach until the 2023 Rugby World Cup? Should Rassie Erasmus or Jake White take over?
