Pakistan swimmers’ Paris Olympics exit disappoints

Pakistani swimmers Ahmed Durrani and Jehanara Nabi’s Paris Olympics 2024 eliminations were disheartening. Durrani placed last in his heat in the men’s 200-meter freestyle in 1:58.67 seconds. His 200-meter freestyle personal record of 1 minute 55 seconds was broken. He finished 25th out of 25 swimmers, 11 seconds behind the last who qualified for the semifinals. Jehanara Nabi finished 26th out of 30 in the women’s 200-meter freestyle. She failed to make the 200-meter freestyle top 16. Her heat had seven players, and she placed third.

Both Gulfam Joseph and Kishmala Talat started poorly at the Paris Olympics 2024 on Saturday. Joseph failed to reach the 10-metre air pistol finals. He placed 22nd out of 33 shooters. Joseph scored 571/600. Kishmala failed to reach the 10-meter air pistol final. Pakistani shooter scored 567 points in six series. Kishmala and Gulfam Joseph will join the July 29 mixed-team tournament. The Olympic women’s 25m pistol event is Kishmala’s main hope. Pakistan sent seven competitors and 11 officials to the world event.
