Pakistan’s spinners defeated England’s batting lineup on Saturday to win the three-match Test series 2-1 and win at home. The Green Shirts had been on the rise since taking a 77-run lead in the first innings on a surface where spinners ruled. Noman Ali (6-42) and Sajid Khan (4-69) bowled England out for 112 in their second innings, leaving Pakistan only 36 to win the series.
Saim Ayub was dismissed before Pakistan won on day three. At 24-3, England fell against Pakistan’s powerful spin attack led by Noman and Sajid, who claimed all 10 wickets. Joe Root scored 33 in a disappointing English performance on a spinning track.
Pakistan reached the mark in 3.1 overs, with skipper Shan Masood (23*) sealing the three-match series. Noman and Sajid took 19 of England’s 20 wickets, although Pakistan didn’t utilise Aamir Jamal, showing how spin-friendly the pitch was.
“Like London buses, they come together,” Masood said of their series victory.
First win after a long time, followed by series win. Special, he said.
