The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied fast bowler Naseem Shah the No Objection Certificate to play The Hundred cricket competition due to workload management, sources reported Geo News. This would cost Naseem Rs 45 million after Birmingham Phoenix signed him for £125,000. After evaluating the Pakistani cricketer’s NOC application, sources say the decision was made as a precaution before the World Test Championship’s vital matches.
They denied his application to safeguard him from injuries as he plays all three formats for the national team and had fitness issues last year. Naseem’s shoulder surgery in October 2023 was successful. He was then disqualified from the 2023 ICC World Cup. After that, physicians urged the young pacer to rest and rehab for four to six weeks before returning to the pitch. He was out for three to four months due to this injury.
After injuring himself on the reserve day for Pakistan’s second Asia Cup 2023 game against India in September 2023, the pacer left the field in the 46th over. Soon later, the PCB sent a press release removing the right-armer from the competition. He hurt a muscle below his bowling shoulder.
