Peet Viljoen on ICE trouble: ‘America has been good to us’

Social media users have revisited a TikTok video by Peet Viljoen – the husband of Real Housewives star Mel Viljoen – who previously shot down speculation that US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials were hot on their trail.

This comes a few days after their arrest for shoplifting in a Florida supermarket and subsequent detention in an immigration centre.

The controversial couple – known for their Tammy Taylor Nails franchise saga in South Africa – relocated to America a year ago after claiming “racial persecution” back home.

They are accused of overstaying their tourist visa.

PEET VILJOEN ON ICE SPECULATION

In a TikTok video posted in December, Peet Viljoen addressed public speculation that ICE officials were hot on the trail of himself and his wife, Mel.

He said, “Mel and I are happy in America. We’re going to stay here. We don’t have to explain to anyone if we have green cards. I regularly speak about [US President Donald] Trump. Everyonee knows about white genocide. I’ve done my part”.

He added: “Mel and I are no longer going to explain this to the media what is happening…we are flourishing. I’m going to be the richest lawyer in America. I already have the most beautiful wife and the most beautiful car. America is good for Peet and Mel”.

Peet went on to claim he was “innocent”,and had been disbarred from practising law because he was white. He claimed that he was studying to take the bar exam in the US and that in February, he would be permitted to practise again in his adoptive country. He hoped to assist other white South Africans to immigrate to the US.

Peet Viljoen invited South Africans visiting Miami to reach out to him.

“Call me, I’ll buy you a cup of coffee”, he added.
