PSL team hit with FIFA transfer ban

The Sunday World has reported that Swallows have received a transfer ban, will not be able to register players for the next two years, unless outstanding payment is made to two former players, Vladimir Mandic and Obren Cuckovic.

The Serbian duo played for Swallows during the 2014/15 season, a campaign which ended with the Soweto club being relegated to the second tier.

Swallows FC chairman David Mogashoa has since acknowledged that the ‘old’ Moroka Swallows, which was eventually liquidated, owed Mandic and Cuckovic a settlement fee following relegation from the topflight.

Swallows hope to have the ban overturned in a matter of days

Fifa was reportedly made aware of this outstanding debt and has decided to hand Swallows with a transfer ban until 2024. However, Mogashoa hopes this can be quickly overturned.

“This issue has been there for quite a while and we have been dealing with it as a club behind the scenes,” he told SABC Sport.

“But we are not worried. I can assure you that we are on top of it and we will have it resolved, and the FIFA ban lifted by Friday.”

Mandic is now 35 years old and still plays in his native country, while Cuckovic has retired.
