South Africa’s motorists have a little over 48 hours to hold off on filling up before the new petrol and diesel prices kick in at midnight on Tuesday, 3 September.

The latest price projection for Mzansi’s motorists shows that excellent news lies ahead for petrol and diesel vehicle owners.

Both petrol and diesel are forecast to see massive decreases at the pumps this week.

The latest projections as received by The South African website from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) shows that decreases around the R1.00 mark for both petrol and diesel, as well as illuminating paraffin, await.

FUEL PRICE IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPACTED BY TWO MAIN FACTORS:

1. The international price of petroleum products, driven mainly by oil prices

2. The rand/dollar exchange rate used in the purchase of these products

At the time of publishing the brent crude oil price is $78.82 a barrel.

Exchange rate

At the time of publishing the rand/dollar exchange rate is R17.83/$.


The final overall price changes for both petrol and diesel will be confirmed on Monday ahead with the new prices coming into effect at midnight on Tuesday, 3 September.
