‘SCANDAL!’: SECOND MOST-WATCHED TV SHOW

The Broadcast Research Council of South Africa August figures confirm that Scandal! beat Isitha: The Enemy and scored second place.

Though the show lost viewers between July and August, it is currently the second most-watched TV show after House of Zwide.

House of Zwide is currently on 4.1 million viewers, while Scandal! is on 3.4 million and Isitha: The Enemy is on 3.3 million viewers.

TVSA confirms that Scandal! received 3.6 million viewers in July while House of Zwide achieved 4.6 million viewers.

E.TV SOAPIE INCREASES EPISODES

The e.tv soapie Scandal! expanded its episode offering, by airing seven days on the 19:30 timeslot in July.

Scandal! became the first South African soapie to air daily with brand new episodes broadcasting from Mondays to Sundays last month.

It cancelled its seven-day weekly broadcast on Wednesday, 28 August and returned to its five-days a week schedule.

The e.tv soapie currently competes with Mzansi Magic’s My Brother’s Keeper and SABC1’s Skeem Saam.

The e.tv show is still trailing behind SABC1’s educational soapie, Skeem Saam which received 4.3 million viewers in July and 4.3 million in August.

The SABC1 soapie is currently third place after Generations: The Legacy with 4.4 million views while Uzalo maintains first position with 4.9 million views.

Scandal! lost its signature first position in March when the SABC1 soapie, Skeem Saam debuted on the 19:30 timeslot.
